amazon web services

the world's leading cloud computing platform

Eagle is an Amazon Web Services Consulting Partner. Amazon is the world's leading (and largest) provider of enterprise-grade cloud computing services. Eagle uses Amazon power to provide the compute capacity necessary to deliver all kinds of bioinformatics projects. All of Eagle's computation is done on the Amazon Cloud, and Amazon are strong partners in exposing Eagle to new customers and new fields where Eagle's expertise may be applied.

ensembl

first choice in genome browsers and genomic data integration

EMBL-EMIEagle has entered into a collaboration agreement with EMBLEM, on behalf of EMBL-EBI and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, to provide Eagle with access to the development team and know-how behind the Ensembl project. Ensembl is the leader in the field of genome browsers, being an extensive and richly featured genome browser and genomic data integration package.

The collaboration works in both directions:

  • Ensembl provides Eagle with advice regarding their project plans to allow Eagle to gain an up-to-date picture of current development, bugfixes, feature requests, and other planned changes that may affect Eagle customers using the platform. Ensembl also offer Eagle consultancy time to assist Eagle to fully understand decisions made within the project and/or any technical issues arising from those decisions.
  • Eagle provides Ensembl with a percentage of revenue from Ensembl-related contracts in order to help support the ongoing development of the project. In addition, Eagle contributes back to Ensembl any code patches and other updates written during the course of our work. These code contributions, once approved and accepted by Ensembl, allow Eagle to indirectly assist the wider Ensembl user community.

taverna

popular pipeline platform

TavernaEagle also has a collaboration agreement with the University of Manchester to build upon and support the Taverna suite in commercial environments. Taverna is a popular and easy-to-use workflow tool for designing and executing a series of analyses over a dataset in a controlled and managed environment.

Just like Eagle's relationship with Ensembl, the Taverna relationship is two-way and sees both parties benefitting.

traittag

award-winning biomarker detection

Eagle is a partner of the John Innes Centre (JIC) with respect to the commercialisation of JIC's TraitTag service. TraitTag is an award-winning sequence-based technique to identify molecular biomarkers that can accelerate crop breeding. Eagle's relationship with JIC allows the company to bring in JIC experts to consult on projects where TraitTag has been deployed, whilst JIC refers to Eagle as its preferred vendor whenever it enters negotiations with its own contacts on projects involving TraitTag. A proportion of the revenue earned from TraitTag projects at Eagle goes towards supporting future research at the JIC.
