Eagle Genomics will be sponsoring the 13th Annual Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC) to be held on 13th and 14th July 2012. This will be the third consecutive year that we have sponsored this event.
The event, held in Long Beach CA is dedicated to promoting the practice and philosophy of Open Source software development within the biological community. BOSC will once again bring together bioinformatics developers from all over the world so they can debate, introduce their work and collaborate to build valuable shared resources that will push science further. It is an event very worth going if you want to stay on top of what is happening in the bioinformatics field.
Well known experts will be presenting key trend technologies:
- Cloud and Parallel Computing
- Genome-scale Data Management
- Linked Data and Translational Knowledge
- Software Interoperability
- Bioinformatics Open Source Project Updates
- Panel: Bioinformatics Paper Reviews: Open Standards and Standards of Openness
Among the keynote speakers are Carole Goble and Jonathan Eisen, both well known as big supporters of Open Source projects. Carole in particular has a connection to Eagle through the University of Manchester's collaboration with us on the Taverna project (a pipeline management system).
BOSC is a satellite to the Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology conference aka ISMB, which will this year celebrate its 20th anniversary. Eagle will be represented at both conferences by Richard Holland, our Chief Business Officer.
